A former nursing home executive whose company was accused of providing so little care to residents that it was almost worthless was sentenced today to spend four months in federal custody.Charles B. Kaiser III, former president and in-house counsel of American Healthcare Management, was ordered to jail or federal prison for two months, followed by two more in a halfway house. Kaiser pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of making false statements in January.
AHM owned or managed 11 Missouri facilities, including Claywest House Healthcare LLC in St. Charles. In 1998-99, state regulators repeatedly cited Claywest for not having enough staff to care for residents.
